HOW TO: Episode 1

A friend of mine was attending a wedding in Colorado last month and normally when she has a special event to attend, I would do her makeup. Now that I think about it, I have several friends who have me do their makeup for them when an event comes around. Hmmm...

Anyway, since this time around, I won't be able to travel to Denver with her (much as I would have loved to) I had her come over a week before she left to do the makeup on her. Then as an added bonus, I packaged up all the makeup I used and this video I made for her to take. I know, I'm an awesome friend! :) And she said it was ok for me to tell you that yes, she really is that defective when putting on makeup that she needed me to do a video for her to follow. I thought it would be fun to post it here so I re-edited it and cut in some extras and other stuff....

Before you guys (or girls, since I don't think many guys would watch this) say anything: 1) Sorry for the wife beater...I had just woken up and did this video before I had to go to work, 2) No, I do not wear this much makeup, nor do I spend this much time on my face on a daily basis. This was for a special occasion. 3) If I ever decide to do something like this again, Ill have to find better lighting...you can barely see the makeup colors and it looks like Im addicted to faking and baking. It really does look better in person And 4) I don't want to hear anything about how makeup hides the natural beauty and no makeup is better. To each his or her own right!?! :)

That said, please enjoy!

Clinque in Rich Coral....THAT'S MY COLOR TOO! (ha ha ha ha)

Seriously though, that was a cool thing that you did for my friend. And my wife says you are a GORGEOUS young woman (I was like "duh"). She was wondering why the hell I was watching some girl put on make up.

That was nicely done, and you made it look so effortless! I'll bet your friend was still wishing you were there to do it for her, I know I would be. Btw, you are beautiful!

You're pretty in the before and after.

In fact, you were pretty before I even knew what you looked like.

I just gave you a shout out E. Hope it brings you some traffic.

Thanks for the instructional video. I'll refer back to it if I ever feel the urge to cross-dress ;-)

Neat video E! I only discovered make up like a year ago and DANG! It is like salve for a weary soul.

I like to use a heated eye lash curler and loreal lash extender mascara. Makes the eye lashes all insta-babe and everything.

god i love make up

and yes, you are a good friend to your friend :)

Dude, you're hilarious! Haven't you done my makeup about a zillion times? And I still have no idea what I'm doing. I'm assuming you're not going to the Mariner's game? Hope you're doing well!

Hey, the Yak Guy told me to come and check you out

That was great! And I love the colours you use! I don't wear much make-up, simply because I'm rubbish at applying it. (I stick to natural colours so that I don't end up looking like Krusty the Clown) You've given me some cool tips though, so I'm going to experiment more.

Great blog. I'll be back. :)

Ps: And you're stunning! I'm so jealous! :P

AHHHHHHHH!!!You are so gorgeous!!! I am SOOOO proud of you!!

Girl, you got mad skilzzz! You done a pro proud. I especially love all the tricks of the trade you utilized, like gold highlighter and white in the corners of the eyes and..concealer to prevent lipstick bleeding on the lips!!
You were taught well my child!!
So glad to see that you utiize the rule, blend, blend and then blend again.

My only suggestion would be to add, what we call in the biz, a tight line eye line on the top lid( this can be done with a tight line brush) with a dark charcoal or black shadow. It will really make your gorgeous eyes pop! Don't you loooove mineral foundation!

Well done! Superb! I can see why your friends come to you for make-up expertise!

Hi. I fund you courtesy of Dr. Zibbs. I loved the video!! You have some serious skill with makeup. And, I learned a few tricks. I'll be back.

OK - who is this Carolyn and why has she never left a comment on my blog?

That Blue Yakker sent me over too and that video was SO fun! I always have my friends do my makeup to when given the chance! It's so fun...I'm going to have to order some of that stuff you used! Great job and you are adorable!

So don't get creeped out if you see I watched your vid again...cuz I'm just taking notes! Hahaha!

WOW...thanks everyone! Maybe Ill do another vid sometime.

And thank you for all the compliments...but really, it's all the makeup. I look like death warmed over first thing in the morning.

Mrs. Holly/Candy: I tried to be as simple as possible. The friend I did this for puts on makeup maybe once every 6 months so I gave her stuff that was foolproof. She refused to bring the eyelash curler with her. Candy, I normally use black liquid liner for an event too but I would HATE to see what would happen if I gave it to her to use. Probably poke an eye out. :)

I missed this post, so I am late to the party to tell you how great you look! Zibbs nailed it though, you were beautiful before I knew how great looking you are.

This reminds me of how long it has been since I last went all-out with make up. It takes me less than a minute to do my make up everyday...
Oh and you remind me of my cousin Christie. Not sure you two really look alike but you remind me of her anyway :P

Of course ~E I had to come back even again to see if more people came.

And once again - you're beautiful. And I hope you start blogging more again.
