Quick sports update...

Again from my recently constant source of info: Mr. Unbearable Banishment.

Apparently the "sad state of Seattle sports" is known nationwide...as he sent me this article from the New York Times: At a Time of Loss, Seattle Fans Hold On to Hope .

Kinda makes me want to cry...because I do remember the SoDoMoJo era of Mariners baseball, first when I was in high school and then again when I was a sophomore in college. And I watched along with everyone else in the city as the Seahawks got jacked of a Superbowl title 3 years ago.

*sigh*

As for the upcoming Seahawks vs. Redskins game on sunday...I'm of course rooting for the Seahawks because...well, because I have to. But to tell you the truth, if it were any other team vs. the Redskins I would probably be cheering for them. I've met Jim Zorn on several occasions (by several I mean he would come in to my work once every couple weeks before he got hired by the Redskins and moved) and he is a very nice humble likeable guy.

I posted a few days ago how I met Jon Olerud?!?! Well, my job location is prime for meeting local sports celebrities as it is smack in the middle of Mercer Island, Bellevue, Medina, Kirkland area where all the rich people live. Along with Zorn and Olerud, we've met Edgar Martinez, Marcus Trufant (a few times), Jamie Moyer, Detlef Schrempf, Coaches and Players from Husky sports teams, retired players etc etc etc. and those are just the ones I can remember off the top of my head.

No real point in that last paragraph.

Just wanted to brag about stuff...since being a Seattle-ite, we haven't gotten many chances to do that lately.

Most famous athletes and people I don't really have any desire to meet. But there are two actually who I would love to meet..

Edgar & Jay. Two stand up guys who left it all on the field and did what was asked, never complaining about money or wanting to leave. Not to mention some kick ass baseball players..

The plight of the Seattle sports fan is a sad one. Even the Huskies suck. I hope those robber barons that made off with the Sonics never win a single game.

And also...you met Jamie Moyer? :) :) :)

C--True and as I'm sure you already figured Edgar is super sweet...Jamie Moyer is kinda quiet but very upfront and a lot more normal looking in person than I thought...and actually Trufant gets his hair cut at the same place as my boss and he tells me that off the field Trufant is very normal as well.

WWW--Yes...and he is AWESOME. would you like me to tell him he broke your heart too???

No, he filled my heart with joy! He was a big part of my team winning the World Series this year! He's even a Philly native...storybook ending.

I was hanging out with a Seattle native last night, and their sports are so bad, I can't even bring myself to make fun of him for it anymore, even though there's the Skins/Seahawks game today, making it a prime time for mockery.

It'd be like kicking a crippled kid with brittle bone disease after he falls out of his wheelchair with an epileptic fit, and even I don't do that. Anymore.
